Top Saudi Arabia firm to invest in Ghana

The Al-Qahtani Group of Companies, one of the largest firms in Saudi Arabia has declared its interest to invest heavily in Ghana, indicating its commitment to partner Ghana for economic growth.

Among other things, the firm company says it is interested in investing in the areas of agriculture, oil and gas, transportation, steel manufacturing and the services sectors.

Salah A.H. Al-Qahtani, Vice President of the Group announced this at a meeting with Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on the sidelines of the just ended World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town, South Africa.

According to Mr. Al-Qahtani, the company has keenly followed the economic progress of Ghana, and was happy about the country's prospects which needed to be exploited for economic gains.

"Our investments in Ghana will lead to a win-win situation," he said.

Although he did not state how much the group intends to invest, he noted that a substantial amount would be dedicated to Ghana.

He said noted that a delegation from the group would visit Ghana soon to firm up arrangements for their intended investment.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur, in his response, lauded the group's interest in Ghana, and assured them of a congenial business environment.

He informed the executives of opportunities in other sectors such as power generation, transportation and infrastructure development, saying investment in those areas have become very critical in supporting the economy.

"There are also good incentives available to motivate business operators in Ghana," he said.

He urged other firms to emulate the initiative of the Al-Qahtani group to respond to the government's call for investment, saying “you can be assured of our cooperation and support.

Al-Qahtani Group of Companies, established in 1940's and considered to be one of the largest and most reputable private companies, currently operates in diverse areas including the manufacturing, mining, energy and water treatment industries.
